FLOWERS IN YOUR HOME
"... Flowers have definitely become a more important part of interiors."
The Sunday Times, May 2nd 2004
In the fast changing world of interior fashions, living, breathing flowers and plants are a vital accessory. They can enrich your home, introducing style and expression. For a fraction of the cost of changing your décor, you can change the whole look of your home weekly!
FLOWERS FOR WELL BEING
A 2004 Flower & Plant Association survey of 1000 women revealed that most would prefer to receive a gift of flowers than lingerie or jewellery.
Flowers refresh the senses. We all know that it's wonderful to receive flowers and that they are a great pick-me-up. But now, according to scientific research (State University of New Jersey), flowers are proven to trigger happy emotions, heighten feelings of life satisfaction, sustain emotional wellbeing and improve social ambience.
The scent of flowers has been found to help alleviate common ailments including hangovers, nausea, headaches, stress, insomnia, tiredness and sorrow. This may be partly due to the presence of an amino acid (also present in chocolate!) which slows the breakdown of beta-endorphines or 'happy hormones'.
The different colours of flowers affect your moods and feelings through sensory stimulation. Red flowers offer energy, yellow flowers raise your spirits, blue is calming and green hues are meant to ease stress.
CREATIVITY IN THE WORKPLACE
Flowers and plants in a work environment not only enhance the image and welcoming atmosphere; they also are proven (by Texas A&M University) to advance productivity and business success. The natural calming and endorphin-boosting effects of flowers in a workplace substantially improve ideas generation, creative performance and problem solving skills in men and women.
